WISDOM DMF Professional
February 2008
WISDOM DMF Professional extends Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, enabling the
creation of ‘best practice’ Document Management solutions for Professional
Services firms. These WISDOM solutions more than match the functionality and
ease of use of leading traditional DM solutions.
Features include client-centric saving, opening and searching of SharePoint,
unique document numbering and smart templates for creating client sites and
matter libraries. Included in WISDOM DMF
Professional is a web service that streamlines integration with existing
Practice Management and CRM systems. ‘Save to SharePoint’ from Adobe, WISDOM
Enterprise Search and prototype SharePoint-based Client management application
are also included in the WISDOM DMF Professional package.

WISDOM DMF v6 / WISDOM Message v6

New features in this major upgrade include increased efficiency when navigating
large SharePoint document stores, additional drag and drop support, streamlined
meta-data capture, extended offline operation, support for languages other than
English and full .Net compliance. Improvements in WISDOM Message v6 (which are
also contained in the full WISDOM DMF v6 product) include support for a
hierarchy of SharePoint Favorites, ‘Email’ content type, consistent move and
copy whether online or offline and ignoring FW: and RE: when sorting by Subject.

Save to
SharePoint – direct from Adobe Acrobat

Following suggestions from a number of customers, MacroView has developed an
Adobe Plug-in that allows ‘Save to SharePoint’ direct from Adobe Acrobat – and
soon from Adobe Reader. In saving PDFs to SharePoint, WISDOM displays its
tree-view and prompts for meta-data in the same, consistent fashion as it does
when saving from Microsoft Office or uploading files from Windows. "Save to
SharePoint" from Adobe is part of the WISDOM Document Management Framework and
included in WISDOM DMF Professional.

Message

In response to strong international demand,
WISDOM Message is now available as a
separate licensed product.
Previously bundled as part of the WISDOM Document
Management Framework, WISDOM Message extends the integration of
Microsoft Outlook with Microsoft SharePoint to make it easy to manage your email
messages in SharePoint. A new Windows Installer MSI streamlines client
installations. Pricing of WSDOM Message has been reduced substantially compared
to the full WISDOM DMF Product.
Winner of the MOSS Search Competition

MacroView has been selected as the winner of the Innovative
Search Solutions competition, which Microsoft has conducted on a worldwide basis
to identify partners with excellent skills in MOSS 2007 Search. The MacroView entry
was based on a MOSS Search solution
that we created for one of our large legal firm clients. That client is
currently using Hummingbird DM5.
The solution builds saves time and reduces the risk of error
when preparing new sales proposals. It uses MOSS 2007 to search an existing CRM database to find
records relating to previous assignments. The user can pick valid values for
search fields from drop down lists, taxonomy trees and other controls, thereby
removing the need when using standard MOSS Search to enter text for these search
fields. A feature of the solution is that users can retrieve details of selected
relevant assignments and have them inserted (fully formatted) into the current
Word or Excel document.
WISDOM Supports SharePoint 2007 and Office 2007

Version 5.0 of WISDOM Document Management Framework
(DMF) has been released
for production use. This version of WISDOM runs on Office 2007 as well as Office
2003. The additional WISDOM customisations are fully integrated with the
Office 2007 ribbon. WISDOM DMF ver 5.0 supports servers running Microsoft
Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services v3. In addition to
supporting the features of previous WISDOM versions on these new platforms,
WISDOM DMF v5.0 supports multiple Content Types and custom columns based
on the Business Data Catalog in libraries within MOSS 2007 sites. The
already strong performance of WISDOM when displaying its tree-view of your
SharePoint environment is further enhanced by cached access to MOSS servers.
WISDOM DMF v5.0 extends the document management capabilities of MOSS 2007 to
enable best practice solutions for managing documents, email messages and other
files.
WISDOM
ClauseBank
has also been upgraded to support MOSS 2007 and WSS v3.
The new version of
WISDOM ClauseBank uses the Feature mechanism of MOSS 2007,
which streamlines installation and deployment. ClauseBank is compatible with
Office 2007 (with integrated ribbon support) and runs fine
under Windows Vista. The new version of
WISDOM ClauseBank
(Ver 6.2) is available for download from the MacroView web site.
WISDOM Message 4.5

MacroView is pleased to announce the general release of WISDOM Message 4.5,
which provides great new facilities for managing your Outlook messages in
SharePoint. These include drag-and-drop in Outlook to save messages to
your favorite document libraries and folders in SharePoint. WISDOM now has an
Offline mode so that you can drag and drop to save even when Outlook is
offline, or you are using Outlook Web Access. The WISDOM tree-view display of
your SharePoint now has a much improved file list, which shows all
columns for all Views of each document library, has efficient support for
large document libraries and allows you to sort and filter to
quickly find the messages you need.

Drop to save your Outlook Messages

WISDOM Message now lets you drag and drop in Outlook to save messages to your favorite libraries and folders in SharePoint. You can save one or more messages
with a single action, which makes it much easier and quicker to manage your
Outlook messages in SharePoint. WISDOM will automatically name the message files
that it saves, ensure that attachments are preserved and also prompt for values
of any custom meta-data columns that are present in the SharePoint library where
you are saving. You can still use the standard WISDOM tree-view display to save
messages and/or their attachments to any library or folder in your SharePoint
environment.
Improved Support for
Large SharePoint Document Libraries

The latest release of WISDOM DMF makes it easier and more efficient to work with
SharePoint Document Libraries that contain large numbers of files. WISDOM now
displays the same details of each file as you would see in Windows Explorer. You
can click to sort files by Name, Size, Type or Last Modified Date. You can also
restrict the display to show only those files whose names contain a specified
filter string. WISDOM performs a choked search to conserve bandwidth and
increase speed when displaying the contents of document libraries and folders.
The result is that it is that WISDOM lets you quickly find the file you want,
even if you are working with a large document library.
Making Content Even
Easier to Find and Reuse

With the release of V6.1, WISDOM ClauseBank now makes it even easier for
business users to manage and reuse content in their Microsoft Word documents.
New features in this latest version include Favorites (for rapid navigation to
frequently used clause libraries), a full-screen preview option (for convenient
viewing of larger content items), support for saving of graphics files in native
format, enhanced Filtering (with optional highlighting) and improved SSL support
(for users accessing via the internet). The new version is also more efficient
in its use of bandwidth and other resources. ClauseBank continues to grow in
popularity, with a recent enterprise licence sale to a major UK law firm.
Large
Organisation support in WISDOM ClauseBank 6.0

The latest version of WISDOM ClauseBank (Version 6.0)
provides features that are relevant for large organisations, including
support for multiple ClauseBank content sites, potentially on multiple
SharePoint servers. To complement the new multi-site feature,
WISDOM
ClauseBank 6 allows a user to browse and choose a ClauseBank site from an
intuitive tree-view display. ClauseBank 6 now has a Favorites menu, to speed
selection of frequently used ClauseBank content. Legal users will appreciate
the way ClauseBank 6 allows content to be stored in Word DOC format in the
SharePoint libraries used by ClauseBank. This ensures that sophisticated
formatting and styles are maintained as the clauses are later retrieved into documents.

Major international law firm has licenced
WISDOM ClauseBank
for use by professional staff across its Australian Offices.
WISDOM ClauseBank will be used in conjunction with custom Microsoft Word 2003
templates for automating the generation of a wide range of legal and
marketing documents. A feature of the WISDOM ClauseBank implementation has been the configuration of restricted access to specific
clause libraries - so that content in this part of the ClauseBank can be
used by only designated staff.

Management solution for New South Wales Schools

Since 2002 NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) has been using a
SharePoint-based solution from MacroView to track and control the production
of Annual Reports for over 2,200 Schools around the State. MacroView has new
re-developed this solution using a combination of Windows SharePoint
Services and SharePoint Portal Server 2003. The new solution showcases a
range of SharePoint customisation techniques, particularly at the XML schema
(CAML) level. Key features of the solution are automatic cross-site
replication, ‘Smart Lookup’ lists and adjustment of access permissions based
